"Musical Instruments" is a title in the My First Book series by Sophie Helenek, the multi-talented award- winning athlete and mountaineer, financier, and mom. The My First Book series is described as "activity books conceived to stimulate a baby's senses." Constructed of sturdy pasteboard for tiny hands to touch, "Musical Instruments" presents multiple primary colored examples of musical instruments opposite the single word naming a single black and white example emitting musical notes. Thus baby encounters her first piano, trumpet, flute, violin guitar, and saxophone. The final summary illustration covers two pages of all six instruments first in black and white, then repeated in their actual colors, such as yellow for brass, brown for strings, silver for the flute, and black and white for the piano. "My First Book: Musical Instruments" is a wonderful approach to parental bonding with infants while participating in their miraculous progressive journey through developmental milestones. Other titles in the My First Book Series that are also highly recommended include: "Sky Wonders (9780989450539, $5.99)," "Shapes (9780989450515)," and "Fruits (9780989450508)." This whole series is an invitation to experience growth together through the infant's senses.
